Day 11: Be responsible

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Aya of the day:

And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, “Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah ] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment.” [Surat Ibrahim, 14:22]
Lesson of the day: Be responsible
We always make excuses. There is always a ‘yes, but…’, and we seek to justify what we did. And sometimes we get away with it. But Allah shows us this scenario on the Day of Judgment to tell us that even Satan will betray us. No more excuses.

And for this reason the devils are chained during Ramadan, so we can reflect and discern- for what things were we accepting Satan’s invitation? And what things are from ourselves? And then we can deal with them accordingly.

And this should go without saying, but we should never ever give up. The scenario in hell are for those people who live their lives accepting Satan’s invitation, never reflecting on their states and making excuses for why they are the way they are. And Allah tells us:

“But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.” [Surat Taha, 20:84]

The perfect equation. Repent, and keep doing good. Don’t let your guilt stop you. Continue in guidance, no matter how many times you fall. Allah is the Perpetual Forgiver. Remember to take yourself to account and take responsibility for your actions.
