بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Aya of the Day:
And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss. [Surat al-Hajj, 22:11]
Lesson of the Day: Have faith
Don’t be like those people described in the verse above- have more depth and see things as they really are. Everything in this life has a purpose and we were not created to remain here forever. If only good things reaffirm your faith while bad things make you turn away, then you have not understood.
Read the Qur’an- see how Allah describes the corrupt, those who torture, the arrogant… Recite His words as He tells you why sometimes bad people are seemingly given good, and what it actually means.
Remember, you are on a journey. Your job is to clear the thorns away from the path, step over some of them if you have to but always keep the goal in mind. Allah is Merciful- He will show you good. But He will test you, and show you the evils. This is when you apply the lessons of the Qur’an and what the Prophet (pbuh) taught us. And in the midst of chaos you can find your purpose and decide how you want to meet Allah.
Remember that the Prophet (pbuh) told us, “When Allah loves a servant, He tests him” [Tirmidhi]. This person is with true faith, and it is this person that will strive to do good despite the obstacles. The Prophet (pbuh) also said, “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.” [Bukhari] So no one who suffers will be forgotten.
So do not worship God on an edge, but have faith.
