Aya of the Day:
And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. [Surat ad-Dukhan, 44:29]
Lesson of the Day: Will the skies cry over you?
The verses preceding this verse describe the people of Pharoah and their terrible deeds, and how Allah caused them to drown. Then He tells us that the heaven and the earth did not weep for them. No one on earth misses their them. They thought they had status and strength and power, but no one, not even the heavens and the earth cried over them. But the question to ask ourselves is- will the heavens and the earth cry over us?
One of the companions, Sa’ad ibn Mu’adh, was only Muslim for 7 years before he was martyred. Yet the Prophet (pbuh) said about him “The Throne (of Allah) shook at the death of Sa`d ibn Mu`adh.” [Bukhari] Imagine what this person must have done for the sake of Allah for Allah’s Throne to shake at his death!
What have you done for Allah? Will the trees miss your tasbeeh as you walked to school or work? Will the earth miss your sujood for Allah? Will the skies miss your du’as to Allah? Will the Angels miss writing down your good deeds for Allah?
